Privacy Guard is a simple and effective app for OS X that helps you free up space on your Mac’s hard drive while also tackling privacy threats. It's like having a little cleanup buddy that keeps your computer tidy and secure!

How Does Privacy Guard Work?

This handy tool uses a quick algorithm to securely delete files and scans your Mac for anything that might invade your privacy. To get started with Privacy Guard, you’ll first need to select your Mac’s Home Folder. You can also pick specific folders to scan if you want to focus on certain areas.

Your Scan Results

After the scan, Privacy Guard will show you a list of apps that could be causing privacy issues along with the total junk files in each one. From there, you have a couple of choices: you can either use the switches to keep or delete files from these apps, or click on the information button next to each app. This gives you a detailed list of all the files needing deletion.

Selecting File Types

The cool part? You don’t just have to decide whether to keep or delete files within specific apps. You can also pick which types of files to remove! This includes cache, cookies, downloads, forms, history, last session info, recent searches, web storage, and webpage icons.

Starting the Deletion Process

Once you've made your choices about what to keep and what to toss out, just click “Continue” and the scanning process will kick off. Just a heads-up: even though it’s super user-friendly and does its job well, the deletion process might take some time. Expect it to take more than 5 minutes if you're deleting around 1 GB of junk data.
