Description
PowerPoint Search and Replace
PowerPoint Search and Replace is a handy little freeware tool designed just for Microsoft PowerPoint. If you've used our similar tools for MS Word or MS Excel, you'll find that this one works in much the same way but focuses only on PowerPoint files. It uses PowerPoint's own find and replace features, which makes it super useful for managing your presentations!
How It Works
This macro can handle more than one file at a time by letting you specify a 'wild card' in the dialog’s 'File Mask (with path)' field. Pretty cool, right?
Important Notes to Keep in Mind
Here are some key things you should know before diving in:
- PowerPoint Search and Replace was built on Office 2000. So, if you’re using Office 97 or 95, it might not work.
- The 'PwrPtSR.ppt' file is meant to launch the macro automatically when opened. However, this might not happen on your system right away. There are instructions included for launching it manually.
- You’ll need to have macros enabled in your PowerPoint settings. If they’re turned off due to antivirus settings, check out your Options menu to enable them.
- Before opening 'PwrPtSR.ppt', make sure to scan it with your antivirus program first.
- This macro requires you to have the full version of PowerPoint installed; just having the viewer won’t cut it!
- The macro only works with files that your version of PowerPoint can understand, so keep that in mind!
- Always back up your files first! Don’t count on the undo feature because this macro creates a file named 'PwrPtSR_Results.txt' that shows what changes were made during the operation.
Requirements for Use
To use this macro:
- You need to enable macros in PowerPoint. Sometimes these are disabled for security reasons—check your Microsoft Office manual if you're unsure how to change those settings.
- If you’ve got macros enabled but still don’t see the 'Search and Replace in PowerPoint Documents' dialog when you run the macro, then it likely won’t work for you. Your Office 2000 setup may be missing necessary VBA modules.
