Description

PostgreSQL Database Modeler

PostgreSQL Database Modeler (or pgModeler for short) is a handy open-source tool made for creating and designing PostgreSQL databases. One of the coolest things about using pgModeler is that it supports special features unique to PostgreSQL, plus it lets you work with entity-relationship diagrams.

Easy-to-Use Interface

This application has a really straightforward user interface. You can handle multiple databases all at once without getting lost! The main window includes a menu bar, a control toolbar, a model editing toolbar, and a spacious model canvas area. There are also different sections for model objects, executed operations, model validation, and an object finder.

Model Canvas Area

The model canvas area is where the magic happens! You can view and edit your database models here. It’s super easy to draw various model objects like views, tables, relationships, or even textboxes. Plus, the canvas has dashed blue lines around it to make sure nothing gets cut off when you print your models.

Support for Multiple PostgreSQL Versions

A great feature of pgModeler is its ability to support several versions of PostgreSQL. This means you can create and edit models and then export them to different PostgreSQL versions easily using optimized code generation methods!

Create Your Own Plugins

If you want more functionality in pgModeler, you’re in luck! Users can actually create their own plugins. The app comes with an interface built just for plugin development that gives access to everything needed to build something new.

Supported Objects

When it comes to supported objects, PostgreSQL Database Modeler handles most of them pretty well. For every object you've set up in your database, it generates a DDL command automatically. However, there are a few unsupported DDL commands like foreign tables and data wrappers as well as user mapping and servers.

A Reliable Tool for Developers

In summary, pgModeler is an awesome tool that developers can count on to create and edit PostgreSQL models efficiently. Since it's open-source, lots of users from the community help improve it over time. This makes pgModeler one of the top free database modeling tools out there!
