Poricom is a handy tool for anyone who cares about the style and beauty of their fonts while still wanting to keep things easy to read. It helps with recognizing Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English characters. Plus, it lets you copy them right to your clipboard for quick translations!
When you start up this portable app, you’ll see a clean and simple interface. There are four main tabs that help you navigate easily. If you're new, don’t worry! Just hover over the icons to see what each button does.
You can open PDF or comic book archive files directly. Need to look through folders? No problem! You can browse your directories and see everything in alphabetical or numerical order. Plus, there’s a preview section on the right side where you can view images.
The scanning feature works a lot like Windows’ Snipping Tool. You just drag your cursor over the area of the image you want to select. The text will pop up in the upper left corner of the preview window—super handy for grabbing small bits of text instead of entire documents!
If you're testing apps made for Japanese markets, there's an External Capture method too! You can capture text from menus that aren’t selectable by using Alt + Q keys. This makes it easy to paste into any translation service.
The second tab lets you switch between light and dark themes—perfect for those late-night sessions! If you have trouble seeing smaller text, you can also change the font type and size in the preview section.
If you're multitasking, Poricom allows you to preview two images at once. This speeds up your work when dealing with multiple document pages!
For larger images with tiny text, you can turn off recognition controls temporarily. Just use your cursor to pan around or zoom in/out using your scroll wheel—that way it's easy to focus on what you need!
This app uses MangaOCR for Japanese text but also supports Tesseract for other languages like Korean and Chinese! This makes Poricom super versatile.
You don’t have to worry about losing recognized text anymore! The program saves all scanned characters into a text file for later use in your projects.
If you're a translator looking for an efficient way to recognize handwritten Japanese characters or just starting out with Asian languages before a trip, Poricom is definitely worth checking out!
