What is PopChar?

PopChar is a simple and user-friendly macOS app that gives you quick access to every character from all fonts, even those that are hard to reach from your keyboard. It quietly runs in the background, just waiting for you to call it up.

Easy Access Anytime

To open PopChar, just click on its icon in the status bar. You can place this icon wherever you like—on the right or left side of the menu bar, or next to other icons.

Works with All Modern Apps

You can use PopChar with any modern app that supports Unicode. Just one click of your mouse and boom! The character is inserted where you want it.

Browse Fonts Effortlessly

In PopChar’s main window, you can easily scroll through all available fonts, change font sizes, and use a handy magnifying tool to get a closer look at any character.

Search Made Simple

The built-in search feature helps speed things up by letting you find characters by name in no time!

Your Character Database

With PopChar, not only can you find specific characters, but also see which fonts include them. You can browse different character sets and even insert HTML symbols. Plus, if you're a designer, you'll love being able to preview your text and characters before adding them into your project!

Choose Your Insertion Mode

The bottom toolbar has three ways for you to insert characters: as plain text, formatted text, or HTML. Pick whatever works best for your needs!

Tweak It Your Way

You can customize how PopChar works by accessing the Preferences slide sheet. Adjust the character size, set up HTML insertion modes, or move around that status bar icon until it feels just right!
