Setting Up plexAutoShutdown

Now, before you can start using plexAutoShutdown, there's a bit of setup you'll need to do. First off, you have to install some requirements. This is the first step to get things rolling.

Configuring Your Plex Server

The next step is to configure your server. You can’t stream unless you've got a Plex server running! When you're editing the config.ini file, make sure you use the URL of your server. Oh, and don’t forget to write down the Plex token too—it’s super important for syncing everything up smoothly.

Running the Python Script

Once that's all set up, go ahead and run the Python script. At this point, plexAutoShutdown should be good to go! The program keeps an eye on your computer's activity. If it detects that the machine has gone idle and notices that both Plex's transcoder and session are inactive, it will schedule a shutdown based on the delay you set.

Cancelling Shutdowns if Needed

If someone starts a new session or if there’s any activity that resets the idle status before it's time to shut down, then no worries—the shutdown operation gets canceled automatically!

Tweaking Settings in config.ini

You can find settings like shutdown delay, maximum idle time, and even fun stuff like emoji options within config.ini. Customize it however you like!
