What is Placid FOR LINUX?

Placid

Placid is a cool software that came from the mind of Phil Loathes. It was designed as a replacement for CMU's ACID, which honestly had some issues. It was just too big, way too slow, and had a bunch of requirements that were hard to manage.

Why Choose Placid?

Phil basically started from scratch and rewrote almost everything using Python! This made it more efficient and user-friendly. If you’ve ever struggled with ACID, you’ll appreciate how much easier Placid can make things.

Requirements to Use Placid

If you're thinking about trying Placid out, here are the requirements you need:

  • Apache HTTP server

  • MySQL 4.0 or better

  • Python 2.2 or better

  • The correct MySQLdb module for your python/mysql interface.

What's New in This Release?

This latest version has some exciting updates! Here’s what’s changed:

  • A bunch of bug fixes to smooth out any rough edges.

  • A few new feature enhancements based on what users like you asked for!

  • This is also the last version before a major rewrite, so stay tuned!
