In today's world, it's really not all that surprising that AI has made its way onto a wide range of aspects of our daily lives, including browsing. For instance, various popular web browsers employ and use the power of AI to improve our browsing experience. Some excellent examples include Opera One, Microsoft Edge, and Brave, to name a few.

Even though it's marketed as an "AI Browser," Pinokio is not a browser in the traditional sense of the word. The whole point of Pinokio is to help you install, run, and deploy AI apps locally as efficiently as possible.

Pinokio uses various cool scripts to install and configure various AI apps (or chatbots) on your computer. I have to admit that I am really impressed with how good Pinokio is at installing AI apps locally, as most of them can be deployed with two or three clicks.

This makes it ideal for users who want to benefit from what various AI apps provide (abilities such as generating text, generating images, tweaking and managing audio files, enhancing pictures, and so forth) in a controlled offline environment.

Usually, if you were to try to install an AI app on your system, you'd have to go through a lengthy and possibly annoying process of installing all the required dependencies. With Pinokio, you don't have to, as the app takes care of everything by itself.

Pinokio is not a typical, hum-drum browser with built-in AI "stuff," but rather an AI app installer and manager that uses efficient scripts to install and programmatically control any AI app.

It runs locally which makes it a very privacy-friendly app, it's also free and open-source (which only helps with the whole privacy thing), and best of all, it's really easy to use.

Also impressive is Pinokio's "collection" of supported AI apps. You can check out a full list of available apps before committing to an installation on the app's official website. Alternatively, install the app, and head over to the "Discover" page.

Pinokio can be installed on many popular Linux distros thanks to dedicated installers/binaries (that range from AppImage to RPM, DEB, and tar.gz).

The whole process is, as mentioned before, quite straightforward. You just select an AI app from the list, hit the download button, and the script pretty much takes care of everything (both installation and configuration procedures).

This is probably the best time to point out a couple of important aspects. For starters, it's important to note that (even though there are no official requirements listed on the app's website), this app can become very resource-hungry very quickly.

In short, the requirements are not for Pinokio per se, but for the AI apps. Please note that some of them require upwards of 6 GB of RAM. It's also advisable that you run Pinokio on a PC that has at least four cores, and a decent GPU may also be required (especially for AI apps that generate or enhance pictures). Oh, and before I forget, you should also make sure to have enough space on your computer's storage device before committing to multiple installations

Overall, I found Pinokio to be quite impressive. However, and you can already guess what I'm about to say, it's not perfect. For instance, some AI apps refused to work. This is most probably because I missed a couple of requirements/dependencies, and honestly, I didn't read up on all AI apps before installing them with Pinokio. Some good apps that worked straight out of the gate (for me) include Silly Tavern, Foocus, and AudioSep.
