Description

PIM

PIM is a handy application that makes compressing files super simple. If you’ve ever needed to pack your files into smaller sizes, this is the tool for you!

Easy-to-Use Interface

The interface of PIM looks pretty standard, which means it’s easy to navigate. To create a new archive, all you need to do is pick a name and choose where you want to save it.

Importing Files Made Simple

You can add files and folders into your new archive easily. Just use the file browser or go with the drag-and-drop method—whatever suits you best!

File Management Features

Once you've added your files, PIM lets you see their names, sizes, packed sizes, and how they’re compressed. Plus, extracting content from archives is a breeze! You can also check if an archive is intact and even choose how you want it compressed. Want to set file associations like ZIP or ZAR? No problem!

Performance Insights

This software uses up a lot of CPU and memory when it's working hard but goes easy on resources when it's not doing anything. And don’t worry if you're not tech-savvy; there’s no help file because PIM is really straightforward for everyone.

Room for Improvement

That said, there are some things that could be better. For instance, while compressing a file (even small ones), there’s no progress bar or message showing how much time has passed or how long it’ll take. This can be a little frustrating.

Compatibility Issues

We tried PIM on Windows 7 and XP. On Windows 7, it threw an error when we clicked “Ok” in Settings (even without changes), but this didn’t happen on XP. Also, keep in mind that it doesn’t integrate with the Explorer context menu.

A Solid Compression Tool

PIM is a pretty good compression tool overall! It may have some issues to fix down the line but its simplicity makes up for it since it doesn’t come packed with unnecessary features.
