Description

Photometry is not the type of app that will appeal to a wide range of users. This is pretty obvious because most day-to-day users don't need a specialized app for viewing light distribution curves and all the adjacent metadata of IESNA and EULUMDAT photometric files.

However, those few users who do need it are most probably bound to find it simply awesome.

Why is Photometry awesome, you ask? Put simply, it has everything a simple photometric viewer app should have.

It provides a good platform for viewing the light distribution of light sources such as lamps and luminaires, it has a super stylish GUI with enough customization options, it's lightweight, and it's also free and open-source. I mean, what more do you want?

Now, I will admit that I don't have much experience with photometric files. Nevertheless, I really enjoy just how thoroughly Photometry is made (at least in my eyes).

In terms of features, the app offers a nice graphical view of the light distribution curves, the ability to edit the source file within the app (via its built-in editor), a wide range of general information, and photometric properties (catalog number, manufacturer, a general description, and so forth).

The app also provides lamp and ballast information (with the ability to select the number of lamps and their respective Wattage), as well as a wide range of photometric properties (test number, test laboratory, and issue dates).

Last but not least, Photometry provides users with various ways to tweak the photometry (themes, styles, snap guides to, etc.) and the preferred units of measurement.

For all those interested in getting a really good photometric viewer, the app can be built directly from the source, or even easier (for most users), it can be installed from both Flathub and Snap Store.
