Pantheios is an Open Source C/C++ logging API library that gives you a great mix of type safety, efficiency, and flexibility. It's super easy to use and extend, plus it's really portable—working across different platforms and compilers. And the best part? You only pay for what you actually use!
This project lets you log messages of any complexity with different types. That means whether your logs are simple or complicated, Pantheios has got your back.
Pantheios allows you to filter log messages based on their severity levels. It supports more than just the eight levels outlined by the SysLog protocol.
You can send your logs to various back-end outputs, either individually or in combination. These include stderr/stdout, SysLog (with a special Windows implementation), Win32 debugger, Win32 event log, COM Error Object, or even any custom back-end extension that you want to create. Plus, it easily integrates with other robust logging libraries like ACE and log4cpp.
Pantheios doesn't tie itself down with compiler-specific or platform-specific codes. It works on UNIX systems (like Linux and Mac OS-X) and Windows too! It’s compatible with a bunch of compilers such as Borland (5.5.1), GCC (3.2), and Microsoft Visual C (5.0). So no worries about whether it’ll work for you!
The best part? Pantheios is completely free! You can check out its source code released under a BSD-style license.
Pantheios started out as a fork from an earlier logging system owned by Synesis Software way back in 2005. Since then, it’s been used in many commercial projects. In one case, it helps manage tens of millions of financial transactions every week without slowing things down when logging is turned off—pretty impressive! And when logging is on? It’s still super quick.
