Orbit is a super user-friendly and lightweight app for Mac that lets you unleash your inner astronomer! It gives you a great space to simulate the positions and orbits of celestial bodies.
This app is perfect for both pros and newbies in astronomy. It takes a straightforward approach to simulating planetary orbits, making it easy for anyone to use.
User-friendliness really shines through as soon as you open Orbit. You’ll see a neat layout with a top toolbar, a large preview panel right in the center, and another toolbar at the bottom. Everything is designed to be simple!
The toolbar makes it super easy to pick your starting date for orbit simulations, choose which celestial objects you want to explore, and select your view—either 2D or 3D. You can also enable axis display, add or remove celestial objects, and access the settings menu all from this same spot.
To dive into using Orbit, just set a starting date for tracking orbits, pick the object you want to track, and hit the “Start” button on the bottom left of the toolbar. It's that simple!
Orbit comes bundled with eight main planets from our solar system. You can simulate their orbits or graph their positions easily! Just click on the “Planet Info” button on the bottom toolbar to get quick access to detailed info about each planet.
If you're looking for an easy-to-use OS X application that doesn't take up much memory but helps you simulate and track planet orbits, then Orbit might be just what you need!
