o3dConverter is a handy little tool that runs in Terminal. It helps you convert COLLADA files into a format that the sample JavaScript scene loader can work with. Pretty cool, right?
This tool can read COLLADA files as DAE text files along with any related asset files found in subdirectories. It also works with ZIP archives or KMZ files, making it super versatile!
When you run o3dConverter, it produces a gzip-compressed tar archive (.tgz). This archive contains a JSON file and all the associated assets from your original COLLADA model—think textures, shaders, and more.
If you prefer, you can have o3dConverter create a set of flat files in a directory. This layout is perfect if you're using the WebGL implementation of O3D.
No need to worry about what OS you're on! o3dConverter works great on both Mac OS X and Windows. If you're on Windows, you can find binaries directly on the project's homepage.
