Description

Nvidia Solaris Display Driver

Nvidia Solaris Display Driver is a cool OpenGL 3D video driver made just for Nvidia graphics cards on Solaris operating systems. The best part? It’s free to use! You can find it in two main types: the Long Lived version, which is great for long-term support, and the Short Lived version for those who want the latest features.

How to Install the Nvidia Solaris Display Driver

Want to get this driver up and running on your Solaris system? First, you need to download the binary package from our Downloads section. Save that run file right in your Home directory. Then, open up your terminal and type in: sh .\/NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-xxx.xx.run. Make sure you're logged in as root first by using the su command. Just replace xxx.xx with the actual version number of the driver you downloaded.

Before You Start Installing

You should know that you need to install kernel headers on your Solaris operating system before running the installation. When you start installing, you'll get a prompt asking if you want to change the X configuration file yourself or let the installer handle it for you. If you prefer doing it later, that's fine too! You can always run the nvidia-xconfig command through an X11 terminal emulator after installation to set it as default.

The Latest Compatibility Information

You might be wondering if this driver will work with your setup. Good news—it has been tested successfully with all recent Solaris operating systems released over the last few years! Plus, it supports both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) architectures.

If You Have Older Nvidia Graphics Cards

A heads up for users with older Nvidia graphics cards—this driver won't do much good for you if you're running an old system like Solaris or FreeBSD. But don’t worry! You can find legacy drivers by searching Softpedia for options like 304.xx series, 96.43.xx series, and 173.14.xx series.
