NPS

NPS is a cool content management system that lets you manage your website right from your browser. It’s a web app built with Java and Oracle, and it works through a central server to help you make all those important adjustments.

Setting Up NPS

To get started with NPS, you'll need access to Oracle and Tomcat servers that are set up correctly. Don't worry; the NPS documentation has all the info you need on how to configure each server.

Database Configuration

The next step is to open the {$NPS_HOME}/web/WEB-INF/db.xml file. Here, you’ll make some necessary configurations to connect to your databases. You have three options: Configuration without connection pool, Configuration with Oracle’s connection pool, or Configuration with an external data source.

Accessing NPS Features

Once you've got NPS installed and set up just right, you can dive into its features using your default web browser. You’ll be able to create user accounts, configure departments, or even take a look at your staff!

Your Own Website Admin

NPS empowers you to be your own website administrator! You can handle everything from deploying your site (that means distributing the front-end web server) to managing it all in one place.

Organizing Your Content

You can easily organize topics on your website. Want to create new articles or rearrange old ones? No problem! You can choose whether posts go live automatically or if they need a moderator's approval first—it's totally up to you!

User-Friendly Templates & Technology

NPS comes packed with various templates and lets you use ANT and ANTLR technology. This means you can connect to your Oracle database, pull out information, and transform it into HTML pages. With this setup, creating and managing websites doesn’t require any heavy programming skills.
