Description
When it comes to developing a good and reliable writing habit consistency is key. To ensure that you're efficiently building towards your daily writing goals, it's not at all a bad idea to track your writing, more precisely, your word count.
Nowadays, most professional writing apps and some of the best text editors out there have built-in word counters. However, what if you want to see your daily progress in a more visually pleasing manner?
In that case, you can try NovProg.
NovProg is a simple, somewhat old-school-looking application that allows you to graph your daily and monthly writing. It's also free, open-source, and cross-platform (as it works on Windows, macOS, and Linux).
The way it works is very straightforward: you enter your daily word count, and the app automatically updates a graph displaying the progress you made. In short, it provides a visual, easy-to-understand way of how far you've gone through both your daily and your total goal. Just don't expect it to blow your mind when it comes to GUI or looks.
You can check your progress by hovering the mouse cursor over each specific graph (meaning each specific day).
NovProg is not exactly what one might call a complex app. Still, it can prove useful if you're really keen on having a decent graphic representation of your writing progress.
There's really not much else to say about NovProg. It's a free and open-source app that works on all major platforms. It looks a bit outdated, but it works perfectly fine for what it was designed to do.
Lastly, the app has a portable mode. More information about this portable mode can be found on the app's official GitHub repository.
