NightOwl is a handy little app for your Mac that makes using the Dark UI mode super easy! Ever since macOS Mojave introduced Dark mode, lots of folks wanted to make it even better. With NightOwl, you can quickly switch between Dark and Light modes with just a click or a hotkey. Plus, you can choose which apps go dark and which ones stay bright!

Easy Switching Between Modes

The easiest way to toggle between these two modes is by right-clicking the NightOwl icon in your menu bar. When you do this, it instantly changes the mode and even plays a cute little "hoot" sound! If that sound isn’t your thing, don’t worry—you can turn it off. You also have the option to use a global hotkey with three different key combinations to pick from.

If you’re feeling lazy (we all have those days!), NightOwl can automatically switch modes based on local sunrise and sunset times. This way, you won’t need to worry about changing it yourself anymore—just be ready for that adorable notification sound when it happens!

You can also set up your own schedule for switching between Dark and Light modes at specific times each day. That’s perfect if you like routine!

Select Which Apps Stay Bright

While many popular apps now support macOS Dark mode, not all of them look great in it. Sometimes, you might want certain apps to keep their classic look without giving up on Dark mode entirely.

Customize Your App Preferences

This is where NightOwl shines! After launching an app for the first time, it gets added to NightOwl’s list. From there, you can easily tell NightOwl whether that app should always run in Light mode—even when Dark mode is active for everything else.
