What is Network Lights?

Network Lights

Network Lights is a super handy Windows app that helps you use your keyboard’s LEDs to show when data is coming in or going out on your network. Pretty cool, right?

Easy to Use and Portable

This app is lightweight and portable, meaning you can just run it without needing to install anything. You can even keep it on a USB flash drive or any portable device, which makes it easy to take wherever you go!

No Admin Rights Needed

You don’t have to worry about making changes in your system. Network Lights doesn’t mess with your Windows registry and doesn’t store any configuration data on your computer. So, you can run it without needing special admin rights.

Monitor Your Network Activity

The best part? It quietly sits in the background while keeping an eye on your network activity. When it detects any action, it makes the Scroll Lock and Num Lock LEDs blink. This way, you’re always in the loop about what's happening.

Configure It Your Way

You can easily access the settings by right-clicking its icon in the system tray. From there, you can choose which keyboard LEDs will signal incoming and outgoing packets—whether it's Scroll Lock, Num Lock, or Caps Lock. Plus, you can tweak how long they blink for (in milliseconds) and even enable USB keyboard compatibility mode.

Startup Options and Traffic Stats

There are some other neat features too! You can set it up to start automatically when Windows boots up and monitor all types of traffic like TCP, UDP, and ICMP packets.

Get Insights with Statistics

The app also generates stats that show minimum and maximum timeout (in seconds), maximum connections, active/passive open connections, failed attempts, sent/received segments, errors, and even total connections!

A Simple Solution for Monitoring

In short, Network Lights is a straightforward solution for monitoring upload and download tasks using those handy Scroll Lock and Num Lock indicators. Just keep in mind that it hasn’t been updated recently; so there might be some hiccups on newer operating systems.
