Sample Files for Beginners

The app also comes packed with loads of sample files. These are great for helping you get the hang of things and see how everything works. Once you fire up the app, go to the File menu and click on Load Geometry to pick a demo document. NETGEN will even guide you straight to where those sample files are stored!

Easily Generate Your Mesh

After loading up your chosen shape, just hit the button under the Mesh menu to generate a mesh. One cool thing about this program is its versatility; you can export your meshes in many formats using the Export Filetype menu. Some options include Neutral, Surface Mesh, DIFFPACK, Tochnog, Abaqus, Permas, FEAP, ELMER, STL, VRML, Gmsh, Gmsh2, OpenFOAM, and TET.

Import and Merge Features

You can also import meshes from your computer or merge them with others! Plus, if you want to make some cool videos of your work, NETGEN lets you do that too. Just go to the "Video clip" section in the File menu and hit "start..." after choosing an output file on your PC. Just keep in mind that it only supports MPG format.

Add Extra Quality Options

This application isn’t just about generating meshes; it has loads of extra features too! You’ll find tools like a CSG geometry scanner and mesh checkers. There’s even a boundary conditions editor and a volume optimizer!

Refine Your Surfaces Easily

If you need to refine surfaces further, check out the Refinement menu options. The Special menu lets you play around with color-based boundary conditions by inspecting colors in a mesh or setting up color profiles.
