NeoRaine is a super speedy emulator for the classic Neo Geo CD game console. It's based on neocdpsp, which means it's designed to bring those nostalgic games back to life!

What You Should Know About NeoRaine

This emulator doesn't try to recreate the raster effects, which means there are some limitations. For instance, if you're hoping to play Riding Hero, you might have a tough time since it uses 3D effects that rely on those raster interrupts. But don't worry—almost all other Neo Geo CD games should work just fine!

How NeoRaine Stacks Up

If you're familiar with MESS and MAME, you'll see a similar vibe here. NeoRaine shares some code with the main project Raine and is developed alongside it. That means when you get NeoRaine, you're tapping into a solid source code base.

What's New in This Release?

• Fixed loading: Now you can load mode1/2352 images with animations enabled.


• Audio support: It now supports audio tracks included in the game image file (typically a bin file). If you've made your own image from a real CD but only hear silence, there's a new sound option called "audio tracks format." Usually, CD tracks should be in lsb format, but if something sounds off, give msb a shot!


• You can now play an audio CD directly! If no external audio track is found, NeoRaine will try to play the first audio CD available. Just a heads up: in Linux, it requires a cable between your CD-ROM drive and sound card; Windows handles this better.


• CDA Fixes: Earlier versions had issues where once a track finished playing, no further sound would come through. That's been fixed!


• The demo of Street Hoop had playback issues when loading animations were on—this has been resolved as well.
