mySIMBL is a handy SIMBL plugins manager that steps in to replace the old EasySIMBL app, which isn't supported on newer OS X versions anymore. With mySIMBL, you can easily download, install, and update your SIMBL bundles without any hassle.
If mySIMBL notices that you don't have SIMBL installed on your Mac, it will offer to handle that for you—just make sure you have your admin password ready!
Now, if you're running mySIMBL on an OS X version with System Integrity Protection (SIP), you'll need to turn that off first to use the app. You can find instructions right in the mySIMBL main window. Just remember, you'll have to restart your computer and work with the command line a bit.
Once everything's set up, you'll see all your currently installed SIMBL plug-ins displayed in the main window. You can drag and drop SIMBL bundles onto the app for easy installation or connect to multiple repositories.
The repository feature is super convenient! It lets you download, install, and update your SIMBL plug-ins with just a few clicks. Plus, mySIMBL gives you extra tools to manage these plugins effectively. You can delete plug-ins, view them in Finder, move resource files around, or even check out the developer page for any of the plugins if it's available.
To sum it all up: using mySIMBL makes downloading and keeping your SIMBL plugin collection up-to-date so much easier! While it can automatically install SIMBL when needed, on some of the latest OS X releases you might have to manually disable SIP first.
You'll find clear instructions on how to do this right in the main window of mySIMBL. Just keep in mind this adds a tiny bit of complexity during installation.
