mSecure is a well-known name in the password manager world. It used to offer a free version along with a one-time purchase option for the paid plan, but things have changed. Now, mSecure has adopted the subscription model that's become pretty standard.
This latest version comes packed with new features that make it more competitive with other popular password managers. You can expect all the essentials like browser extensions, password sharing options, attachments, and much more.
The first time you open mSecure, you'll probably find it feels familiar right away. It has a straightforward three-panel layout that shows categories, entries, and details clearly. It's designed to store your passwords, credit card info, notes, and anything else sensitive you want to keep safe.
Each type of entry uses templates that you can customize fully! You can add or remove fields as needed and even reorder them however you like. Plus, there's a handy password generator included, and now you can attach files directly to your entries.
Password sharing is another cool feature now part of mSecure. You can create multiple vaults and manage who gets access to what information by adding users to each vault.
mSecure works on major desktop and mobile platforms too! There are extensions available for Chrome and Firefox that provide basic functions like password autofill, searching for entries, generating passwords, and capturing new credentials automatically.
If you're using Safari though, keep in mind that it only offers autofill capabilities right now. It would be great if they added more features here!
The subscription model means you can use mSecure across multiple devices easily. Data syncing is straightforward with options like the mSecure cloud, iCloud, Dropbox, and Wi-Fi at your disposal.
The latest update brings lots of improvements which might help users get comfortable with this new subscription format. Feature-wise it stands tall against other mainstream password managers making it a solid choice!
If you're a fan of Safari on macOS though, just remember that its limited functionality could make it harder to recommend unless you're using a Chromium-based browser or Firefox.
