Description

Mouse Debouncer

A defective mouse can trigger double-clicks accidentally, which can obviously be quite irritating and may prevent you from using the device any longer. Before replacing it, however, you may wish to try out a software utility designed to fix this issue.

Key Features:

  • Sets a minimum delay between clicks to prevent double-click issues

  • Works with most mouse buttons

  • Runs quietly in the system tray

  • Monitors left, right, middle, and side mouse buttons

  • Customizable delay settings for each button

If your mouse triggers double-clicks accidentally, these clicks are normally registered almost at the same time, much faster than any user will be able to press a mouse button twice. The application works under this assumption and ignores double-clicks if the button presses have too little of a delay between them.

When the application is running, you can right-click its system tray icon to view the configured thresholds for every mouse button, as well as the number of double-clicks that have been blocked.

If you simply launch the executable file, the utility will only monitor the left mouse button and use the default 60 ms threshold. If you don’t have problems with any other buttons, this is all you need to do.

However, it is also possible to monitor the right, middle and side mouse buttons, as well as customize the delay for each one. Unfortunately, though, you can only change these options using command-line arguments, so you need to create a shortcut or a batch script to launch it again with the same settings.

On the whole, Mouse Debouncer certainly gets the job done, but it would be great if it were possible to modify the settings from the GUI. Nevertheless, it can still be configured pretty easily, provided you read the instructions listed on the project’s GitHub page.
