Description

Monitor Assistant

Monitor Assistant is an application that’s no longer supported, which means you can't buy it anymore. But don’t worry! You can still download it from Softpedia and use it, even with some limitations.

Fixing Your Screen Issues

If you're running Windows 10 on a high-density display, you might notice that your screen looks a bit pixelated. That’s not fun, right? You can play around with your display settings to set a custom DPI scaling level. This makes icons bigger and text easier to read, plus it helps clear up any blurry content. But if you want an easier way to handle this, Monitor Assistant can really help!

Your Monitor Info in One Place

This handy tool shows all the important details about your monitor in one window. You’ll see things like the width and height of your screen, the current DPI scale, the model of your monitor, the device name, and even your operating system version.

Dead Pixel Testing Made Easy

Along with showing your hardware details, Monitor Assistant has features for cleaning your monitor and checking for bad pixels. It runs a simple dead pixel test by displaying solid colors—red, green, and blue—across the entire screen. If there are any dead pixels of those colors, they’ll show up as black dots that are easy to spot.

DPI Scaling Options at Your Fingertips

You also get some useful buttons to manage DPI scaling in Windows 10! There are two options: one lets you stick with the default Windows 10 DPI settings while the other switches to what Windows 8.1 used. Just remember: you’ll need to restart your computer for any changes to kick in!

A Solution for High-Resolution Screens

This app is especially great for folks using widescreen monitors with resolutions over 1920x1080 who might be facing issues when resizing screen content. Sometimes when you set the DPI scaling to 125% or more, icons and text can get blurry. Monitor Assistant steps in here by shifting the DPI scaling method from Windows 10's default back to what was used in Windows 8.1.

The Bottom Line

To wrap it up, Monitor Assistant offers two main functions: finding dead pixels and fixing DPI scaling issues. It does both jobs well but having to restart every time can be pretty annoying! Keep in mind that if you change anything in the 'Display Settings' section of Control Panel, you'll usually need to sign out at least.
