What is mod_cband For Linux?
mod_cband
mod_cband is an Apache 2 module designed to tackle the issue of bandwidth limits for users and virtual hosts. If a virtual host exceeds its transfer limit, mod_cband will redirect any further requests to a specific location that you set up in the configuration file.
Why Use mod_cband?
If you're part of a hosting company and want to control data transfer for your customers, mod_cband is a great choice. For example, you might want to limit users to "10 GB of traffic per month." This helps ensure fair usage among all customers.
How Does It Compare?
You might have heard about another module called mod_curb. While it can limit data transfer too, it has some drawbacks. It doesn't work well with virtual hosts or Apache 2. That's why I created mod_cband! It's fully compatible with the Apache 2 API and supports bandwidth limits for both individual users and specific virtual hosts.
Features of mod_cband
- Limits bandwidth usage easily
- Redirects excess requests smoothly
- Compatible with Apache 2 API
- Supports per-user and per-virtualhost settings
