Description

Microsoft Pvkimprt

Microsoft Pvkimprt is a handy tool that lets you sign your Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications code in Microsoft Office 2000 programs using an authenticated digital certificate. Pretty cool, right?

What are Digital Certificates?

So, what’s a digital certificate anyway? Well, it’s like your online ID card. Some certification authorities, like Verisign and Thawte, can give you these certificates for code signing. They help ensure that the code you’re using is legit and safe.

The PVK File Format

You might run into the PVK file format while dealing with these certificates. This format stores the private key of your digital certificate. Meanwhile, the public part of that certificate goes into an SPC file. So basically, the private part lives in the PVK file while everyone can see the public part in the SPC file.

Using Your Certificates

If you have a Verisign Class 3 certificate or a Thawte Developer Certificate, you'll get them as a pair of SPC and PVK files. Now, if you want to use these certificates in your VBA-enabled applications, there's one more step: you'll need to import those SPC and PVK files into your personal certificate store using the PVK Digital Certificate Files Importer.

Try It Out!

If you're curious about all this and want to see what it can do for you, download Microsoft Pvkimprt. Give it a shot and explore its capabilities!
