mCPU Meter is a handy little desktop gadget that shows you how much CPU and memory your computer is using, plus how long it’s been running. It's super easy to install and set up because it comes with just the basics.
The interface is pretty straightforward. It’s a small rectangular frame that you can drag around your screen with your mouse. This gadget can keep track of up to eight cores, both logical and physical. You'll see their usage displayed as percentages, along with some neat meters in orange for CPU usage and green for memory.
If you want to tweak things a bit, there's an Options panel in the context menu. You can change how often the CPU data updates—anywhere from 500ms to 5000ms—and even choose to display just one bar for the CPU level if that's what you prefer. However, that’s about it when it comes to features; it’s pretty basic.
You can also take advantage of some default options from your operating system. For example, you can resize the frame, keep it on top of other windows (which is super helpful when you're multitasking), or adjust its opacity level so it's not too distracting.
The good news? mCPU Meter doesn’t slow down your system at all! It uses very little CPU and RAM while still giving you accurate readings with a solid refresh rate. We didn’t encounter any error messages during our tests, and it didn’t hang or crash either.
That said, there are some stability issues when using mCPU Meter on newer operating systems. For instance, during our testing on Windows 7, it couldn't show the system uptime correctly. It’s worth noting that this gadget hasn't seen updates in quite a while.
If you're looking for a simple tool to monitor your system's performance without bogging down resources, download mCPU Meter. It might be just what you need!
