What is Magic Math Wand?

Magic Math Wand

Surely you encountered difficulties when trying to perform math operations, even if these included basic operators. Luckily, a computer can get you out of some sticky situations, given you install the right set of applications. For instance, Magic Math Wand is a cool program for youngsters, which is also fitted with an abacus.

Technical Specifications:

  • Price: FREE

  • Publisher: Minot

  • Operating System: Windows

  • File Size: Varies

Features:

  • Helps learn how calculus is performed

  • Includes basic operators: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Intuitive displays with an abacus

  • Possibility to use random numbers for increased difficulty

  • No progress tracking feature

Before you can take the application for a spin, go ahead and check whether .NET Framework is on your computer, and install it otherwise. Although it’s packed in an installer, it doesn’t make any changes to system registry entries, so you can also deploy it on a thumb drive in case you want to always have it at hand.

Note that the program isn’t really meant to solve equations for you, but rather to help you learn how calculus is performed. The set of operators only consists of the basics, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

The main menu lets you select the operator of interest, after which a different window shows up with the dedicated process. You’re free to have multiple active operations at a time, but there’s no really any practicality to be pulled. By default, the application displays an operation with single digit numbers, but you can switch to large more for greater equations.

The displays are intuitive, and once a result is provided, an abacus, shows up to exemplify the operation. There’s the possibility to have random numbers used in the operation, making for increased difficulty. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t keep track of your progress, and you’re the only one able to tell if your math improved on the long run.

Bottom line is that youngsters can find it hard to concentrate, especially in such difficult, technical subjects, but with a little bit of practice, Magic Math Wand can help increase skill over time. The only downside to the whole operation is the lack of a tracking, or reward system to keep you going.
