Logging Utility is a super handy tool that helps you check what's going on with your applications and processes. It uses things like Stderr and Stdout, which are just technical terms for standard error and standard output, to figure out how everything is working or to run some diagnostics. This can really help when you're coding or using other frameworks.
The best part about Logging Utility? It's all command-line based! This means you can easily log Stderr and Stdout data from your apps right into a file on your drive. Plus, you can still see the results in the console while it's working! How cool is that?
You can access this app through the CLI environment. Just type in a command, and it will show you all the options and commands that are already set up for you. There are different ways to run the logging process but don’t worry—you’ll get the same results no matter how you do it!
If you want to get fancy with your logs, you can append new entries instead of replacing old ones. You can also choose whether to write both Stderr and Stdout into your log file, format it however you like, apply filters, and do so much more—all from the command line!
A quick tip: if you're entering any arguments that have spaces in them, make sure to put those in double quotes. But if you're passing single characters, just use standard escape sequences.
