Description

Lifeboat

Lifeboat is a handy little app that acts as an SSH client and a Xojo web management tool for your Linux servers. If you have one or more Linux servers running, this tool is perfect for you!

Compatible Linux Distributions

This application works with various Linux distributions like CentOS 7, Debian 9, Debian 10, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Ubuntu 20.10. I tested it on a live Ubuntu 20.04 server, and let me tell you—it offers so many options while keeping it lightweight and easy to use.

Connecting to Your Server

To connect to your Linux server using Lifeboat, you’ll need to enter your public static IP address, the access port, your username, and choose an authentication method. You can pick either password or key authentication. If you're using a key pair for access, just click 'Select' to pick your key-pair file. After that, test the connection and if everything looks good, hit 'Connect.'

Configuration Process

If this is your first time connecting with Lifeboat, it will ask for permission to install its components and set up the server. Once that's done, you can easily browse through your server resources. You can add new instances—like domains or subdomains—and even tweak your current setup by adding new tools like PHP.

Deploying Apps Smoothly

Once you've got the basics sorted out and everything’s running well, you can move on to app deployment! This happens in the 'Web Apps' section where you enter each tool's name and assign it to one of your domains while specifying how many instances you'll need. You can upload your files straight away or take some time before going live.

Xojo App Support

Lifeboat is great for anyone working with web applications built in Xojo (versions 1.0 or 2.0). You can upload them easily using Lifeboat's compact set of features! For more info or to download Lifeboat, check out their site!
