Libxml2 is an awesome XML C parser and toolkit that was developed for the Gnome project, but guess what? You can totally use it outside of the Gnome platform too! Plus, it's free software under the MIT License, so you don't have to worry about breaking the bank.
Now, you might be wondering what XML even is. Well, XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language. It's like a special text language where you add extra info to your content using markup. This markup info sits in angle brackets. The most famous markup language we know is HTML!
The cool thing about Libxml2 is that it’s super portable. It works on lots of different systems without causing too many headaches. Whether you're on Linux, Unix, Windows, CygWin, MacOS, or even some older systems like OS/2 or VMS, Libxml2 has got your back!
This library is written in C but don’t worry if that's not your jam! There are many language bindings available which means you can use it in other programming environments too. So whether you're coding in Python or Ruby or something else entirely, you'll likely find a way to integrate Libxml2 into your projects.
