What is LeopardAssist FOR MAC?

LeopardAssist

LeopardAssist is a handy tool for anyone wanting to install Mac OS X Leopard on a system that doesn’t quite meet the 867mhz CPU requirement. With this software, you won’t need to upgrade your CPU or hack any DVDs. It’s just a simple one-time-use tool that makes the process super easy!

How Does LeopardAssist Work?

So, here’s the cool part: LeopardAssist uses a temporary Open Firmware trick. This trick changes the reported CPU speed to 867mhz and starts the installer straight from a CD. Pretty neat, right?

The Technical Stuff

Now, if you want some details, here they are! The app writes a file called boot.txt to the root directory of your hard drive. It also sets up the NVRAM (that’s like your Mac's memory) so it knows to boot from that file. When you restart your machine, Open Firmware reads this file and follows its instructions: it changes the reported CPU speed and switches over to the CD or DVD to start up with the Leopard installer.

No Need for DVD Modifications

This little trick means no need to mess around with your DVD for installation! Once everything is set up and ready to go, you can easily flash back the PRAM after installation is complete. This restores your original CPU speed and gets everything back on track.

Reversible Effects

The best part? All effects of using LeopardAssist are completely reversible! If you want to go back, just hold down Command (Apple) + Option + P + R, restart your machine until you hear that second chime, and voilà! You’re back to normal.

Caution Advised

Just a heads-up though: users should be careful when using this tool. You’re trying this at your own risk!
