Laverna is a handy note-taking tool that helps you keep your text snippets organized in notebooks. Plus, it lets you use an encryption key to keep everything safe. You can even work with multiple profiles if you want to separate your notes.

Getting Started with Laverna

Laverna comes with a default profile ready to go, so you can jump right in! Just create your first notebook and start adding entries. The note editor has three viewing modes: full screen, preview, or normal. This way, you can choose to focus just on writing (full screen) or see how your notes look formatted (preview). The normal view is great for quick notes!

Formatting Your Notes

When you're using the Laverna note editor, you'll find that it supports Markdown tags for formatting. There are also some buttons for common tasks like inserting images, hyperlinks, and highlighting code snippets. It makes things super easy!

Keeping Your Notes Safe

Laverna lets you create an encryption key to protect all your data stored in the app. Each time you open Laverna, you'll need this passkey to unlock all your profiles. Just remember that if you lose it, there’s no way to get it back.

Storing and Syncing Notes

You can store everything locally on your device for now. While you should be able to sync your notes using Dropbox across all devices, we ran into some issues during testing.

Laverna offers a cool alternative for organizing notes: use Markdown formatting and sort them into notebooks while marking your favorites. And don't forget about encrypting everything for extra safety!
