What is LaunchAsRoot?

To put it simply, LaunchAsRoot is an application and service that helps you run other apps as a root user. This means you can access features that are usually locked away!

How to Use LaunchAsRoot

1. Drag the app or document you want to launch as root onto the LaunchAsRoot icon in your Finder.


2. A dialog box will pop up asking for your admin name and password. Just enter those details to give permission.


3. Once you've done that, LaunchAsRoot will quit after launching your chosen application.

Using the Service Feature

1. Hold down Cmd and click on the app or document in Finder.


2. Select "Launch As Root" from the contextual submenu that appears.


3. You'll see another authentication dialog; enter your admin credentials again to proceed.


4. After this, LaunchAsRoot will launch your application and then close itself automatically.
