Laplock is a handy app that helps keep your MacBook safe. It sends you automatic SMS or Yo messages when someone disconnects the power cable, which can help stop theft right in its tracks!
Getting started with Laplock is a breeze. Just drag and drop the app into your Applications folder, and it’s ready to go! Once it’s installed, you’ll see it in your MacBook’s OS X status bar. You can easily access it anytime with just one click.
To use Laplock, you need to register your phone number or your Yo username first. Don’t worry; it’s super easy! Once you've done that, Laplock will send SMS messages to let you know if someone tries to steal your unattended MacBook.
Just keep in mind that for Laplock to work, your MacBook needs an internet connection. Also, make sure your mobile phone can receive SMS messages and has a network connection for Yo notifications.
A cool feature of Laplock is that it lets you lock your MacBook's screen right from its drop-down menu. So if you're not into using the native hotkey (CTRL + SHIFT + eject), this makes things super simple!
This app is still in early development stages, but we’re excited to see what new features they might add soon. For now, it's a straightforward and easy-to-use tool that could be a great extra security feature for your MacBook.
If you're interested in trying out Laplock, give it a shot! It could really help keep your laptop safe and sound.
