Description

Overstepping tea is definitely one of those "feels bad man" moments in life. One of the consequences of oversteeping tea is that the tea becomes very bitter and is particularly more noticeable in green and white teas.

Fancy kettles, nifty brewing kits, tea infuser baskets, sleek teacups, and honey spoons are invaluable for any tea aficionado, but so is having a reliable way of setting alarms.

If you're a KDE user and a tea lover, then here's something that's bound to make you happier. It's called KTeaTime and it's a simple and open-source tea timer app.

The way it works is remarkably straightforward: you simply select the type of tea you're brewing, and the app alerts you when it's the perfect time to stop the brewing process.

KTeaTime is one of those typical KDE apps and by that I mean it's a great little app. The app provides four default timers for Black Tea (3 min), Earl Grey (5 min), Fruit Tea (8 min), and Green Tea (2 min). Even better, the app also allows you to add new bespoke timers of your own.

Another cool aspect of the app is that it allows you to add instant custom timers (with custom alarms) which can prove to be quite useful not only for tea brewing, but also for, let's say, taking something out of the oven, or cooking Cup Noodles.

Last but not least, I also enjoyed the fact that the app provides a decent degree of control when it comes to how the notifications are displayed on your KDE system.

Having said all that, KTeaTime is a cool little app that integrates nicely with KDE desktop environments (just as long as you use a light theme for your system, as the app's tray icon is barely visible on darker themes).
