How Does Koa11y Work?
Koa11y is an Electron-based app that offers a user-friendly graphical interface built around the command-line Pa11y accessibility analyzer. It runs a headless web browser in the background, testing the URL you enter for any computer accessibility errors based on standards like Section508, WCAG2A, WCAG2AA, and WCAG2AAA.
Get Detailed Reports
Once it finishes analyzing your site, Koa11y provides a detailed report of all the accessibility issues it found. Plus, it includes warnings and notices to help improve your website's accessibility compliance.
Flexible Report Formats
You can choose how you'd like to receive these reports—Koa11y generates them in HTML, CSV, Markdown, JSON, or XML format. Just pick your preferred option from the drop-down menu on its main screen!
User-Friendly Features

Light on Resources
When we tested Koa11y, it was super light on resources! It only uses about 1% of a CPU core when idling and around 50 MB of RAM. During analysis for accessibility issues? It goes up to about 60% CPU usage but stays under 100 MB of RAM.
A Few Downsides
One thing to keep in mind is that Koa11y doesn’t support standard global hotkeys for copying/pasting text or minimizing/hiding the app. So that's something to think about.
