KNN-WG is a cool software that helps predict the weather using a method called K-nearest neighbors (K-NN). It’s pretty neat because it allows researchers to simulate and analyze weather patterns right from their computers!

User-Friendly Interface

The interface of KNN-WG is super straightforward. You’ll find a few tabs that make it easy to manage your data while applying the K-NN technique. You can pull in information from Excel files, whether they’re in XLS or XLSX format. However, do keep in mind that those are the only file types it supports.

Working with Weather Variables

This software deals with various weather factors like maximum and minimum temperatures, rainfall amounts, humidity levels, solar radiation (Srad), evaporation (ETo), and wind speed. To get started, you'll need to choose which columns correspond to each value manually. It would be awesome if you could set up how your spreadsheet looks when you load it!

Running Your Model

Once you've set everything up, you can load your data into the K-NN model through another tab. Just remember to set both your base time period and future time period since this method assumes today's data mirrors past data.

Results and Visualization

KNN-WG gives you daily predictions based on all the variables you selected! Plus, it creates output plots for better visuals so you can easily understand what’s going on with your data. The application even calculates efficiency criteria so you can compare how well K-NN did against other models.
