Description
At first glance, there's a good chance you won't be impressed with KleverNotes, a KDE note-taking and to-do app. However, after spending a bit of time with the app, there's no denying the fact that the app is a bit more than just your run-of-the-mill open-source note-taking app.
As mentioned before KleverNotes is a free and open-source note-taking and to-do app for the KDE environment. It has two selling points: the first is that it uses markdown (to preview your content), and the second one is that it has an adaptive GUI.
While Markdown support in note-taking apps is by no means groundbreaking, having an adaptive GUI is great. This means that the app should work without issues (while still looking good) on a wide range of both desktop and mobile devices (especially those running KDE Plasma Mobile).
While KleverNotes is not the most visually attractive offline note-taking app out there, it looks right at home on Plasma. Not only that, but the app really feels like a quality product, and the attention to detail is definitely there.
For instance, there's a Todo section for each note (which is great for bulkier projects). The app also lets you draw "stuff" using a stripped-down Paint-like drawing section. The app also supports a few plugins.
Of course, one could argue that plugins don't really have their place in a simple note-taking app, but I think it's great that they're there if someone needs them.
To activate all the supported plugins, just open the Settings section, select Plugins, and select any of the provided Utility (Note Linkin and PlantUML) and Cosmetic plugins (code syntax and quick emoji). Please note that the code syntax plugin only supports KSyntaxHighlighter, Chroma, and Pygments.
As usual, I also enjoyed the fact that KleverNotes provides a wide range of customization options (just like most KDE apps, to be honest). These options include the ability to change the storage path, the Sidebar's contents, the toolbar, how the app previews notes, and so forth.
