KIF, which stands for Keep It Functional, is a super handy framework for testing iOS apps. It makes automation a breeze by using the accessibility features that Apple provides. This is especially useful for developers who want to ensure their apps are accessible to everyone, including those with visual impairments.
Now, it's worth mentioning that KIF uses some hidden Apple APIs. Most iOS testing frameworks do this too! While it’s fine for testing your app, you definitely don’t want to include KIF in your final product code. If you do, there’s a good chance Apple will deny your app submission. So, keep that in mind as you set things up!
Getting started with KIF is pretty straightforward! First off, you'll need to link the libKIF static library right into your app. To do this, just download the source code from the KIF GitHub repository, and follow the setup instructions that come along with it.
Just a quick note: these steps assume you're using Xcode 4. If you're still on Xcode 3, things might look a bit different since you won't be able to use Workspaces like in newer versions.
