KidSafe is a lifesaver if you've ever had your desktop icons all mixed up or your important Word document deleted by a little one. This app was created just for that! It’s a computer-locking tool designed to keep young kids from messing around with your stuff.

How Does KidSafe Work?

When you fire up KidSafe, it opens a full-screen window that hides everything else on your screen—like the desktop and TaskBar. Since this window is blank, clicking around won’t do anything. So, those curious little fingers can click to their heart's content without causing chaos.

Prevent Accidental Shutdowns

If you set it up right, KidSafe can also stop the system from shutting down. That means even if a tiny tot presses the power button, your computer stays on! How cool is that?

Your Key Protection Options

This app lets you disable several important keys to make sure kids don’t accidentally open the Start Menu or other menus:

• Lock the Windows key: This stops the Windows key (or Start key) and all its combinations from working.


• Lock Ctrl-Escape: Disables Ctrl-Escape but leaves other combos like Alt-Escape available.


• Lock Alt-Escape: Blocks Alt-Escape while keeping other combinations intact.


• Lock Alt-Tab: Prevents switching between windows with Alt-Tab but doesn’t block all related shortcuts.


• Lock Task Manager: Stops access to Task Manager and any third-party task managers too!


• Prevent system shutdown: This feature keeps your computer from shutting down or rebooting—even when prompted!

KidSafe Window Customization

You can also customize how KidSafe looks and behaves:

• Select background graphic: Choose an image for the KidSafe window. Stick with BMP, GIF, or JPG/JPEG formats for best results!


• Select hotkey: This feature lets you set a special hotkey to show KidSafe quickly when needed.


• User tray icon: If you want, you can have an icon in your system tray that shows KidSafe is running. A quick double-click gets you back to safety!


• Select KidSafe's mode: You can run it in normal mode, screensaver mode, or hotkey mode depending on what works best for you.
