What is KFC FOR MAC?

KFC (Kill Flash Cookies)

KFC (Kill Flash Cookies) is a free and super easy-to-use app for Mac OS X. It’s designed to help you delete all those pesky Flash cookies hanging around on your system.

What Are Flash Cookies?

So, here’s the deal: Adobe Flash Player has these things called Local Shared Objects, or LSO’s for short. They can hold up to 100 kb of info forever unless you do something about it. When you clear your browser history on your computer—whether it’s Windows, Linux, or Mac—those LSO’s stick around in Adobe's local storage like an unwanted house guest.

Why Should You Care?

These cookies can store personal stuff like usernames and passwords. With all the security risks popping up related to Flash, it makes sense to get rid of them. You definitely don’t want shady websites accessing this stored information!

KFC Versions Available

The cool thing about KFC is that it comes in two versions: one that works through the command line and a user-friendly GUI version. You can use it on Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows without any issues.

Where Does KFC Look for Cookies?

This handy utility will search for those annoying Flash cookies in your directory located at: ~\/Library\/Preferences\/Macromedia\/Flash Player.

IMPORTANT:

The first time you run KFC, make sure to let it run until there are no more errors popping up. Those Flash cookies are tough little guys! Sometimes it takes three or four passes to wipe them all out completely. If you want to see what’s happening while it's running, use the option -v. Just keep in mind that the first run might take a bit longer than expected.

If you're ready to clean up your system from those hidden cookies, download KFC now!
