Description

Keyman Developer

Keyman Developer introduces keyboards that can run on desktop and touch devices, with basic or customizable layouts, embedded into your applications, mobile services, or websites. Being open-source, the Keyman keyboards you build can easily be integrated into a variety of applications, all from desktop to mobile, with compatibility support for different platforms, on desktop and touch devices - Windows, macOS, iPhone or iPad, Android, and even web applications.

Features:

  • Support for desktop and touch devices

  • Open-source keyboards with customizable layouts

  • Integration into applications, mobile services, or websites

  • Compatibility with various platforms

  • Access to over 2000 languages

  • Hosted on the Keyman Cloud for easy sourcing

Hosted on the Keyman Cloud, its core and keyboards can be sourced via different JS script implementations done into the back-end of your website, for both HTTP and HTTPS endpoints. Upon initiating a new Keyman instance, you can opt for different project types, such as 'basic,' for a keyboard project (for a project that matches the folder structure from a Keyman keyboards repository), a blank keyboard project, an import from a Windows keyboard type, a model called 'Wordlist Lexical Model' (a Keyman lexical-model lookalike), or a type called 'Blank Lexical Model.'

System Requirements:

  • Windows, macOS, iPhone, iPad, Android

  • Internet connection for Keyman Cloud access

The Windows application Keyman Developer is a free resource. Through the app, you can access a service with minimal usage restrictions (mostly due to technology limitations). Moreover, the application is a full-fledged keyboard development tool, and it allows developers to use and customize their models (including adding keyboard dictionaries, to grant storage permissions on different devices, and others). The development tool let you pick from over 2000 different languages, including exotic ones, such as Ancient Greek, Tibetan, Urdu, Burmese, Sinhala, Eurolatin, and more.

To understand your options better, check the service's language availability page, and to get started with Keyman, look at the Keyman general documentation overview. Keyman Developer is part of these download collections: Key Mapper
