One way to do this is by keeping your DSL modem connected to the provider. However, your computer needs to keep "talking" with the ISP too. Many people solve this by regularly pinging a website, but that can use up resources on that site.

A Better Way with Keep My IP

This is where Keep My IP comes in! Instead of pinging some random website, it sends out random DNS queries to your ISP at set intervals between 1 second and 10 minutes—usually around every 5 minutes. This keeps your ISP informed that you're active online without bothering other sites.
