Description
Nowadays, most of the color palette-related apps and resources can be found online. Be that as it may, having an efficient color picker app on your desktop can be good for productivity.
KColorChooser is one such app - a free and open-source color picker/color palette tool. As its name clearly states with the "K" letter, it's an app that's mainly designed for KDE Plasma desktop environments (but as usual, it can work on other DEs also).
Right off the bat, I'll just say that KColorChooser is not the best color picker/color palette app out there. I'm not saying that it should be, because simple apps such as KColorChooser have their place.
There are a lot of things to like about KColorChooser: it smoothly integrates with Plasma, it allows users to pick colors from their screens (with decent precision, I might add), it comes with a set of typical basic colors, it allows users to create simple palette collections, and it displays HTML codes for colors (both custom and basic ones).
In short, KColorChooser is a simple app that doesn't do all that much, but what it does it does well. If I were to compare this app with other apps of this sort, then KColorChooser falls a bit short.
For starters, it has no format customization options, there's no Copy-to-Clipboard button on the GUI (forces users to manually highlight and copy the codes from the GUI), and it doesn't have a way to save color palettes. However, by far the biggest issue with this app is that it doesn't feature other color codes except HTML (for instance, there's no HEX support).
If you're looking for a simple color picker app and you only work with HTML color codes, then KColorChooser is not a bad choice just as long as you keep in mind its multiple drawbacks.
