It takes only a little while to get the application installed on your computer, giving you a chance to check out the set of features in no time at all. Accommodation is pretty easy, thanks to the simple design, and intuitive requirement fields. However, you need to make sure .NET Framework is also installed if you want to take advantage of what the application has to offer.

A compact window shows up on launch, with two different tabs that allow you to add a password and remove it from target files. Three different input fields need to be filled in. One asks for the file you want to secure, the other for a destination folder, while the last is where the password goes.

Unfortunately, JetSoft Shield Now is dedicated to files, so if there are more you want to secure, it’s best to add them to archive first. Moreover, the original file is kept in the same place and state, so it’s best to remove it once the password is added, or hide it somewhere.

A new file is immediately created once you put the process in motion. Running it directly asks for the password, with the possibility to just view content, or unlock it completely. Sadly, there aren’t any configurable actions in case of a custom number of wrong attempts, nor a method of protecting it from deletion.

In conclusion, JetSoft Shield Now comes with good intentions, and manages to live up to expectations by letting you easily add a security layer over any kind of file, with minimum effort. However, it feels a little rough around the edges, because it leaves the original file behind, and nor can it prevent the protected file from being removed.
