Jeeves is a super handy tool for OS X that helps developers test their projects right on a local server. This means you don't have to mess around with connecting to any network resources, which is pretty cool!
Once you launch Jeeves, you'll see a little icon pop up in your status bar. This menulet gives you quick access to all the main functions of the app. You can open specific resource folders or stop the server with just a click. Plus, it shows you the name of the folder you're currently using.
If everything goes well, Jeeves will automatically open your local host address in your default web browser. You'll be able to see the project you're working on! Just remember that you need to use the classic index.html
format so Jeeves can find what’s in your resources folder.
What's neat about Jeeves is that it can recognize commands from a Jeeves.json
file if you add it to your resources folder. This lets you use both POST and HTTP methods and more!
If you want more details about supported commands, check out the developer's support page. Jeeves can handle route request configurations and even manage resource paths for responses or content types.
The best part? Jeeves makes it super easy to test out projects still in development using a dummy backend on a local HTTP server. Its intuitive design is perfect for beginners, but experienced developers can also dive into JSON commands for customizing requests and responses.
