Installer is a pretty simple tool that helps you install applications that don’t have their own setup programs. Basically, it copies everything from one folder to another and creates two new files that tell you the application’s name and version.
The catch is, it doesn’t keep any info about these installations, which can make it tough to track them down later. It’s not your typical installation software since it just moves files around and makes those two documents in the target folder.
If you want to move a portable app to a specific spot on your hard drive, Installer can be handy. Plus, it even lets you uninstall the app if you need to! But while this tool is useful in some cases, it could definitely use more features to really shine.
For instance, there’s no record of installed applications, so if you want to remove one later on, good luck finding it! The .appinfo files created by Installer help figure out if an app has been uninstalled but don’t save where the apps are located. This makes managing your installed programs a bit of a hassle.
Honestly, we can't think of too many times when Installer would be super helpful. Moving portable applications isn’t hard on its own without this tool's help. Plus, without other important features, it's kind of limited.
This program could have been great if it remembered all your installations and allowed management from one place. Unfortunately, that's not how it works right now.
