InsomniaT is a cool tool that helps keep your Apple laptop awake. This software is a free version that was rebuilt for Snow Leopard, and it works on both 32-bit and 64-bit kernel modes. It's super handy if you need to stop your laptop from going to sleep when you're working on something important.
WARNING: Do not use InsomniaT with Lion! If you try to run it on Lion, it can cause a system panic when you boot up. This happens because of a race condition in the kernel driver load sequence. If you've already installed it, you'll need to use the uninstaller while in safe boot mode.
The client for InsomniaT can be found under /usr/local/bin
. Here's how you can easily disable or enable sleep mode:
If you decide that you want to uninstall InsomniaT, just follow these commands:
sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/InsomniaT.kext
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/InsomniaT.kext
sudo rm /usr/local/bin/insomniat
sudo rm -rf /Application/Utilities/InsomniaT.app
