Setting up a single device isn’t much of a hassle, especially since it’s not something you do very often. However, when you have a large number of devices to configure for employees, students, or customers, handling them individually isn’t an option.

iMazing Profile Editor is meant to help you create Apple configuration profiles for macOS, iOS, tvOS, and watchOS. It lets you set everything up to your liking, from system and app settings to network configurations and restrictions, and then deploy them locally or via configuration profiles.

This app allows you to customize pretty much any setting on a device, as well as apply restrictions if necessary. You’ll find settings organized into categories, and they can be filtered by device; if multiple device types are selected, you’ll only see shared domains.

Aside from general system settings, you can also add configuration payloads for any application. The idea is that once the profile has been deployed, everything will be set up correctly to allow the device to be used immediately.

The interface is easy to navigate, and you can filter out unnecessary content. The search function allow searching for properties by title, name, or description.

Profiles can be installed on your Mac directly, but the app is mostly intended for exporting and mass-deploying configuration profiles. Once you’ve set up a profile, you can export it to a .mobileconfig file, which can also be digitally signed.

For MDM service that only support single-domain property lists, you can export individual payloads as .plist files.

While Apple has its own solution, Apple Configurator, it has a lot of issues and doesn’t get frequent updates. iMazing Profile Editor is a superior option in every respect, so much so that it’s difficult to believe it’s completely free. You won’t find a better app for creating Apple configuration profiles.
